Privacy Policy

Propose is a Slack app for asynchronous team decisions. This policy describes what data Propose stores and how it is handled. It reflects what the software actually does — it makes no certification or compliance claims.

Who is the data controller

Propose is open-source and self-hostable: each operator who runs an instance is the data controller for that instance. For the hosted instance at getpropose.app, the operator is the maintainer of Propose. Data is stored in a SQLite database on the operator's own server.

What Propose stores

Propose identifies people only by their Slack-assigned IDs. It does not collect passwords, email addresses, message history, or content beyond the proposals and votes described above.

How the data is used

Solely to operate the decision protocol: posting proposals, tallying votes, running Resolution, producing Decision Records, and sending the related Slack messages. Propose does not sell your data and does not use it for advertising.

Optional integrations

If the operator configures the optional Linear integration, the Decision Record for a Carried proposal is sent to the operator's configured Linear workspace as an issue. That off-box record contains the proposal text, any adopted amendments, the outcome, the vote tally (the count of Yes / Support-it / No / Absent), and a link back to the Slack thread — where the full, named Decision Record (who voted and how) lives. This integration is off unless the operator enables it.

Retention & deletion

Data persists until removed. Uninstalling Propose from a workspace revokes the stored bot token. To request deletion of a workspace's stored proposals, votes, and installation record, see Support or email support@getpropose.app; the operator will delete that workspace's data on request.
